About Clear Water
The Clear Water Project is an indigenous-led movement bringing clean drinking water, health, and dignity to communities across Ecuador's northern Amazon. Born from a partnership between five Indigenous nationalities — the Cofán, Siona, Secoya, Kichwa, and Waorani — and a coalition of international humanitarians, engineers, and environmental advocates, ClearWater works at the frontlines of a public health crisis caused by decades of oil contamination in the region.
Since 2011, our teams of local community technicians have installed rainwater-harvesting and filtration systems in villages along the Aguarico River and beyond, giving families, schools, and health clinics access to safe water for the first time in a generation. Beyond infrastructure, ClearWater trains local youth to map their communities' biological and cultural resources, and supports Indigenous leaders in sharing their stories with the world.
We believe in community-led solutions: the people closest to the problem are the ones best equipped to solve it. Every contribution goes directly toward clean water, rainforest protection, and cultural survival in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
