"We are taking our sailboat to the Caribbean for the winter and plan to live on it for a couple of months at a time. I have never provisioned the boat for more then a week at a time nor have i done extensive cooking onboard. Our oven has never been used. I have found Carolyn's tips and recipes to be extremely helpful. Thanks to her I'm feeling more confident..." Read more

"If you are a fan of theboatgalley.com or The Boat Galley on Facebook as I am, you may already know something about Carolyn Shearlock's expertise. She is a fine resource as I study and prepare for full-time cruising, and I appreciate her advice greatly. Web resources are great, but this book is now the foundation for my boat's library. As every boater knows,..." Read more

"The authors have thought of everything and willingly shared it. Many things that seem common sense however if you didn't get it packed on the boat, you won't have it as an option. The recipes seem great, can't wait to try all the ideas, and the substitutes will indeed come in helpful."

"OMG! This book has so many great recipes and helpful hints. I have purchased equipment that these ladies suggest, and WOW has each item helped me in my cooking efforts. I cook the recipes at home and on board our boat. Just can't thank you enough. And, the newsletter (updates) are great as well. EXCELLENT and a must have!"

"I have followed The Boat Galley for some time on the internet. When I found out they were writing a book for the galley, I was thrilled. I am 2 years from moving aboard my boat and this book has been an amazing asset to my set up. Even if you don't have any plans of living aboard, this book has so many ideas, tips and recipes for any purpose. It's very well,..." Read more

"I bought the book and then I bought several more copies. It is going to be my gift to all the people I know who have small kitchens, live in the country far from stores, campers and more. The book is full of great recipes, but the best part is how it is cross referenced and the suggestions for substitutions. I don't have a boat but on shore it's a winner."

"Very helpful book, not only for boat galleys, but for the home kitchen - especially small ones. Great tips for substitutions and doing without certain ingredients. I'm intrigued with the instructions and recipes for cooking in a thermos. The provisioning and storage section is very useful for us novices. Easy to use table of contents. Great reference book."

"Plenty of tips and suggestions to make live aboards or weekend sailors take notice. Simple techniques you may not have thought of for everything and some excellent recipes with substitute ingredients in case you don't have what the recipe calls for. A lot of useful information packed into 800 pages plus they have weekly emails with additional information."

"This cookbook works well at sea and on land. Provides more than recipes. Good discussion on provisioning a boat and making the most efficient use of on board storage space and food items."

"I have been waiting months for this cookbook and finally received my copy. It doesn't disappoint. I've long been a fan of The Boat Galley on Facebook and e-mail, but this book puts it all together. What a great reference...not only recipes but everything else you need to know, not just about cooking, but all aspects of living on a sailboat, whether it's for..." Read more

"My husband and I have been living aboard our sailboat for about a year and a half, and had never done so before, so we were total "newbies". I discovered TBG pretty early on, and have been following on Facebook for at least a year now. I have found the information Carolyn provides invaluable. Buying the cookbook was a logical step & I know I will not be disa..." Read more

"I bought thls book looking for simple ways to cook on a boat. After I started reading it I realized it is a great cookbook for the home, too. Organizing a galley (kitchen) on shore is important. I would recommend this book for anyone who cooks on a boat, or in an RV, or simply wants some straight-forward recipes and kitchen ideas. I got the Kindle Fire versi..." Read more

"I love this cookbook so much that I have one at home and one on our boat in Mexico. I’ve given them as gifts to fellow cruisers and landlubbers alike, most recently as a wedding gift. Solid recipes, sometimes as starting points, and the substitutions and ideas are invaluable on land or sea. Great for old salts and young adults alike!"

"I have been reading the two authors' blogs for some time now and was eagerly awaiting their book. I was not disappointed! Not only is this a well-developed cookbook, but it is chock full of really helpful tips on provisioning, storage, and other food-related topics. I appreciate that the authors are both cruisers with experience, not just folks trying to com..." Read more

"This book makes provisioning so easy and gives awesome ideas. I have not taken the cooking chore on while living on land but now living on boat, I took on that role. This book is very easy to follow and makes cooking enjoyable. It is good for boat life as well as RV life"

"We eventually will move to the cruising life. So we started using this at home to try different recipes and see what we like and the storage life of the ingredients. The recipes are good. Some are more applicable to the boat life than others but with so many recipes, you will find ones that you will definitely love. It is one of the better recipe books tha..." Read more

"So, I really have to say I love this book. For the novice or beginning cruiser, like myself, it really gives some great insight into all the things I wouldn't normally think of. The Equipping the Galley, Provisioning, and Food Substitutions were particularly useful as well as the endless supply of great boat friendly recipes. Anyone who has tried to cook reg..." Read more

"As useful for an RV as a boat, there are many tasty options with fewer items that need refrigeration. Recommended."

"I use this multiple times a week. I honestly haven't found anything that was not satisfying, which gives credit to the time and extensive research and testing that went in to their book. Much of the ingredients are repeatedly used making trips to the grocery less frequent and money better spent (no one off exotic ingredients in this book). This surpasses a c..." Read more

"The recipes are not the main attraction, at least for me. The first few chapters of information are gold, and something that every cruiser or RVer should read before setting out. It would be great to have an updated version of this book, as it is starting to feel dated -- for instance, everything about pressure cooking assumes you're using a stovetop versio..." Read more

"I full-time in a tiny RV with a tiny kitchen. This book has been a lifesaver. It provides a bunch of recipes, but that's just the beginning. It also helps me make the best use of VERY limited pantry and refrigerator space, keeps my kitchen lean and mean in terms of equipment, and helps me conserve fuel and water while boondocking. It's so great that it's the..." Read more
