"This store is pretty good.  You can get cheap beer and alcohol here.  Also good for frozen foods to microwave."

"I was horrified to find that everything was pre-made and pre-packaged.It all started when I chose a cake and took it to one of the employees to decorate, and was told that they had arrived frozen and that they don't write happy birthday on cakes. As a matter of fact there are NO bakers in the back baking cakes and cookies. No produce staff cho..." Read more

"This TJs is surprisingly huge for being on Market Street in SF.  You go down a functional escalator (yes, Michael G., they got it fixed), and you arrive in a huge footprint of a store. It's laid out slightly differently than the TJs in suburbia.  All the snacks are sort of piled at the end near the check-out.  And they have one ginormous check-out lin..." "The subterranean 4th Street location is my favorite SF  TJ's.  The store is clean and well stocked, the bathrooms are too, even though they change the combination to the toilets daily and you have to get it from the customer service desk (it's downtown SF. Otherwise dopeheads would camp out in there).Never had a wrong clerk there. They go out..." Read more

"Good store, good products. World's most stupid, inefficient line checkout system. I hopped in line and was pulled out saying the line was behind me. The people I was in front of, appeared to be randomly walking down the aisle & then into the line. In fact, they could have been. Also, the only indication was a sign overhead, which still didn't account for..." Read more

"PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, FIX THE DAMN ESCALATOR!I've been coming to this location since they opened.  I like that the store is extremely large, well stocked, and that the 15-20+ tellers keep the at-times extremely long moving rapidly.  I've had no bad experiences with this store.  The escalator is often out of commission as it has been for..." "Great Trader Joe's location with all of the products you need and love. Off of market street, it's located behind Okd Navy and can be tricky to miss with all of the signage around it, but it's there in all it's glory! It is also very close to the Muni and several bus stops making it easy for me to grab something on my way to or from work/home.I have..." Read more

"So unhappy that all produce is suddenly wrapped in plastic. Once Trader Joe's made a statement that they would never use plastic bags, only paper, and now almost all produce is packed in it. I dislike this this for three reasons: 1. I can not select my own number of pieces and all organic is wrapped in packed at numbers to big for a single person to eat that..." Read more

"What's not to love about TJs? This one is clean and the lines move quickly and efficiently.

Like most TJs they have great brand name products and nice and affordable wine and beer section. Meat can be a bit pricey.

Not a bad spot to get a to-go salad from in your lunch break if you're tired of paying $10 for a salad!"

"The line here during lunch is absolutely ridiculous--longer than I have ever seen a grocery store line. It winds through 3+ aisles, so avoid coming during the hours of 12-2.

Other than that, your standard Trader Joe's."

"This is probably my favorite Trader Joe's location. The shelves are always fully stocked, the employees at the registers work super quickly and efficiently, and it's also super convenient to BART.I've been to multiple TJ's locations in the east bay that are always out of something or selling sad looking produce. Because this location has tons..." Read more

"This is probably my favorite grocery store in all of San Francisco. Their easy to reach locations makes shopping convenient. Each time I walk through the doors I'm always happily greeted with a smile by their uplifting employees. The food is always fresh and at an affordable price. They truly stand by their mission of "[giving] customers the best food an..." Read more

"I am sooooo happy that this Trader Joe's opened! As someone who lives in Soma, I love that I have an alternative to pricey Whole Foods. They're well stocked - I honestly can't think of anything that I miss about the larger Trader Joes' in the south bay. I drop by here multiple times a week to get produce and other essentials. However, the thing that r..." Read more

"I saw on google that it was less busy than usual on Monday 25th around 4-5pm. So I went there, but hell, the line started from 6-7 rows away. They still provide good stuff, though. My tip if you're going there around the busy time and need only the things from their shelves (not the cold stuff), just get in line and grab them along the way!"

"Always crowded and the line wraps through the aisles so you're force to go in between people's legs to grab stuff out of the shelves. Best to go after 7p in hopes to avoid this. Also, when their escalators are broken, you are force to climb the stairs with loads of groceries because their elevator is inaccessible. I rather go to other locations that are not..." Read more

"The staff here are always friendly and helpful. I love going here and having coworkers try out new stuff. The only thing wrong with it are the afternoon lines wrapped around the whole store. Crazy! I always just leave when I see the line as I don't to spend my afternoon in a long line."

"A love, hate relationship with this store.

Great prices and amazing service... but the food often goes bad in about a week. Don't stockpile too much on the fresh produce unless you plan on making food within the week."

"I'm a loyal trader hoe's fan and I love that they have more locations opening up! What I hate about this store is the checkout line process. Nobody seems to understand it and to me seems like a wasted space. I would hope that they hire some feng shui expert to come in and make it better. The aisles make no sense to me and are very limiting to those who want..." Read more

The line management works really well. They designed the checkout system well."

"The Trader Joe's I been to in San Francisco!  The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.  Anytime I need something, a staff member is always there to help from finding an item for me or grabbing it off the shelves.  Some of them are upbeat and enthusiastic when I ask for some while others such as the cashier's smile and have small talk with me while they..." "Pretty busy store since it's in the heart of the financial district. The produce selection was pretty diverse and fresh. The employees were helpful, though I did hear the lady manning the sample counter reprimanding someone about filling up their thermos with the coffee intended to be sampled, which was entertaining, but other than that no issues. "Lifesaver over here!I had to pull together some last minute cooking and was worried about making it to the supermarket given my work hours. Luckily, this spot opened up recently (I'd never even noticed it while walking on Powell)-- very reminiscent of the Trader Joe's up in the 70s in NYC with an escalator that goes down to basement level.Emp..."
