"By the time you get to own a boat, I would hope you know how to make a lettuce salad!!! Disgusted. Plus tiny writing and no pictures. Humph"

"Cooking on a boat is definitely different than cooking on land. And cooking on a boat in a foreign country is even trickier. With a great mix of recipes, common sense and helpful details this book is the perfect addition to any galley."

"When you buy this cook book, if you are a sailor, you do not have to be a liveaboard, you will find this book so useful, it is like having one and a half cookbooks in one cover, it is not just the recipies but the added information that i find great, even in the temperate climate of UK. Thank you to both authors for such a book, it was a long time coming but..." Read more

"As a beginner sailor, future liveaboard/cruiser, and someone who is terrible in the kitchen ... this book is a must for me! It provides everything from preparing your boat galley for comfort and efficiency, what food products they recommend (even if you don't have refrigeration), and simple recipes aboard. The authors have years of experience cooking on a bo..." Read more

"This is a wonderful cookbook for all levels of cooks. If you've never cooked, they give lots of explanations and since it is aimed at boat owners it also lists tons of substitutions for many recipes. Buy the book AND check out the website."

"Having been a HUGE fan "The Boat Galley" blog ([...]) combined with the fact that I am more or less hopeless in the galley of my own boat, I was super excited to see this book coming out and was lucky enough to be able to download a sneak peak. Carolyn and Jan have created a practical and incredibly useful guide for a boat galley that I anticipate will becom..." Read more

"I found the information to be very useful and practical with a lot of "why didn't I think of that?" moments. Storage ideas are adaptable to boat, RV, and home living. I hope this comes out in a Kindle version. Check out the Boat Galley.com blog for more ideas and photos."

"I got the book for my travels by RV. There was of course some information that wasn't as applicable as it would have been on a boat but I got a lot of tidbits that I can use both in the RV and at home. I am a reluctant cook but since my husband has a number of health issues, I have found that I must cook more from scratch than I have before as manufactured f..." Read more

"Jan and Carolyn deserve much praise for this solid reference book. Every word of every recipe on every page is valued. While many cookbooks these days are filled with pictures, this is no coffee table book for who has room for something like that on a boat let alone the galley! By some miracle, they fit over 800 "from scratch" recipes that can be made with t..." Read more

"Bought this book in preparation for going cruising. It is excellent for that and teaches everything about how to prepare and use a galley, store fresh food, and deal with food that is not prepackaged and sanitized for the urban US grocery store. Funny thing is, I found out when experimenting with recipes, that this is the best basic cookbook I have ever use..." Read more

"This book is amazing. There are so many useful tips for provisioning and cooking for cruising. The recipes were easy to follow even for the beginner cook. This was my essential go to book along with Amanda Swan Neal's book The Essential Galley Companion: Recipies and Provisioning Advice for Your Boating Adventures when we sailed to Mexico and the South Pacif..." "If you think a "red wine sauce" should include ketchup and soy sauce, (and if you like either mayo or ketchup as an ingredient in most every recipe) and if you think yellow food coloring belongs in noodles, then this book is for you. If not, then only reason to read this is to be appalled at the ingredients in the recipes."

"I was surprised that so many of the recipes required an oven. Our galley has only 2 burner stove and microwave. Not much use for our boat!"

"The book itself is great, but really disappointed with the Kindle version. A lot of recipes have a footnote - which doesn't appear on the same page but on a separate page for each footnote at the end of each section. Surely for £17 Amazon could have done a better more diligent job than that? Any chance of re-cutting and an update?"
