"Shrimp muqueca is the best thing I've had anywhere.  Fantstic kale.  Great fried plantains.  Don't order the Brazilian national dish - it's not great.

The gravy is useless to me.

Always good to make reservations if it's an evening meal."

"This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Boston area that I can't find anything similar to anywhere else (in the area or in any other major city). The muquecas are absolute comfort food that is especially good on a cold day. It's a small restaurant so the wait can sometimes be a while. Since there's no waiting area, it means waiting outside."

"Great place. My favorite is their signature dish--the moquecca--made with fish, tomatoes, awesome spices, rice-- always served piping hot. Comes to the table bubbling in a clay pot. Can be a little noisy--but I fel it adds to the charm. On the wall is a story of how they make the special cookware in Brazil. People are friendly."

"Have been here a couple of times and it surprised me to see that, after the place was featured on a TV show of neighborhood restaurants, it was packed last time I was there, so if you plan to hit this place on a Saturday night make sure to call ahead and reserve a space. Decorated with colorful paintings and fish nets to reflects some of the atmosphere of th..." Read more

"Shared the cod patties for appetizer, and the Fejoada Completa and the Muqueca Completa (Bahian style). Both were delicious. The restaurant is very cute and casual inside. Comfortable with children; added bonus is their bathroom has a changing table. Service was very friendly. Street parking only, but we had no problem on an early weekend night."

"A second fryer dedicated for gluten free!! I was in fried plantain heaven!! The very knowledgeable staff were also quick to inform me that the muqueca, with it's accompanying rice and muqueca "gravy" (thickened with cassava flour), were all gluten free! It was a nice feast! Ready to go back and try more options on the menu!"

"The husband and I went for an impromptu dinner/movie date last night, and we are really happy we wandered in here. We've lived in this neighborhood for 5 years and have always wanted to try it. There were plenty of parties eating but there was no wait in getting a table. The menu is almost all seafood, which was fine with us, I think the only items were a co..." Read more
